PTI called me about 20 minutes ago, asking me about my views about the breaking news on the death of Indian toddler Gurshan Singh Channa in Melbourne a few days ago. Gursewak Dhillon, a 23 yrs Indian student and a house mate, has been charged by Victoria Police for the manslaughter of this toddler. I am very sad & angry that this 3 yrs old toddler was allegedly done to this ultimate harm by one of the Indians living in the same house.

Where is TimesNow TV channelĀ  now? What are their comments now?

TimesNow TV channel & Arnab Goswami, please have balanced views about Australia!

Indian media, stop your nonsense about Australia. We have a serious crime problem among ourselves.

Disgusted and very angry. My heart goes to this kid’s parents and his family. A little angel, Gurshan, RIP!!

  1. Dr Singh, I feel ashamed as an Indian today. 11 of the last 15 deaths of Indians in OZ have been by Indians. Remaining have either drowned or committed suicide. Thanks to one Gupta all Indians ran to the media and claimed them all as “racism”. Time to end all this nuisance. Indians should make a petition to the CG and HC and indicate that Indian Government should disregard demented sensationalists.

Have also done a blog titled OZZIE INDIANS TO STOP, PAUSE, THINK AND REFLECT

  2. Instead claiming and yelling racism we need to look at the “black monkey” within our own community.

All bar one recent death which has not been solved have been by our own community.

Indian goverment also needs to bring the temperature down everytime they raise the issue of stuent violence to improve the bilateral relations.

At the moment its just a one way street with number of ministers visting india. How about Indian Prime Minister comming to Australia.

  3. Killing a 3 year old is a heinous act. I have my deep sympathies for the grieving parents.

I am glad the authorities this time took a prompt action and caught the culprit. I feel that in the past the authorities had be slack in their prusuit for catching the offenders and also in reporting the outcome to the public, this all led to the great hype in the media and a suspicion about possible racism.

  4. The fact of the matter is that no matter where you go in the world, the majority of people who are victims of violence know the perpetrator, so it is no shock that the bulk of violent acts against Indian’s in Australia are at the hands of their fellow Indian’s – especially in a tight-knit student community.

What is shocking is the way Melbourne and her citizens have been so maligned in the hysterical political moves of just a couple of internal Indian politicians. Not to mention that in their insipid politically correct way our own politicians have stood for it. It is reverse racism pure and simple & I think we are owed an official apology from on high in India & that ought to be demanded before truly irreparable damage is done between anglo & indian Australian on the street.

Hopefully now there will be a return to balance & perspective in the reporting of crime & everyone can take off their race blinkers – it doesn’t matter what colour is the skin of a violated human being, it is tragic all the same.

May god help them in these difficult times.
As for the criminal,he definately had would have had a criminal background.
The questions now are many, but most importantly,How did he come here? Why did he come here? AND What was his problem?

  7. I am still not able to come to the termes that just a 3 years old boy can be killed like that by one of their room mate.
I think some thing more will come up soon the reason of the toddler becoming un-concious.
I really congratulate Victorian Police and SES who soleved this case so quickly. Hats off to all of the people who helped police in solving this case.

  8. I would like to remind Dr Singh that long time ago I had written to you that the problem is not racism, but inefficient policing. And we needed to address that rather than blame racism for everything. I just came back from India. Everybody was asking about racism there I replied why are you not asking about law and order and policing in Australia? I know a few journalist in Calcutta and I told them that you missed a big oppotunity to do Indian communnity enourmous service by researching how police efficiency in Australia compares with other developed societies. But you opted for sensationalization of an issue where all the yardsticks are hazy. Definitions are vague and the social value systems are confusing. Your reporting will cause us lot of pain and will take lot of effort to correct

I want to give full marks this time to Victoria police for the way they have responed so far. The chapter is not closed yet. Let us hope they will show the same level of effeciency in future crime related incidents where Indians are invloved. And I am sure the journalists in India will correct themselves and reduce the bias and eventually be more objective in their reporting.

Finally no words can fill the loss for the parents of Gurshan, except that you must remember that human spirit has this starnge ability to recover from the most devastating tragedies and I just hope and pray that in time you also recover and lead a life that we all deserve and hope.

  9. It is most painful that a toddler had to sacrifice his life in order to EDUCATE a section of the so called ‘professional Media’ in India to introspect and refrain from biased & baseless reporting. It is a fact that journalistic umbrella allows the media not to reveal source of news, but ‘Masala News’ is creating irreperable damage to the law- abiding Indian- Australian population here, which needs a full-stop forthwith.
The professional ethics of journalism demand no news is allowed to be aired for pecunirry benefits of an individual or an agency.
I have spent whole of my life in the Media. I feel ashamed. My heart goes to the family of the kid.

  10. These are fast food days..you see. all decisions whether good or bad are done instantly.. No patience.. no logic.. Human beings are (as per Darwin) mammal family and they have this group phobia.. especially the indian media. On the name of who breaks the news first, without thinking the consequences, to keep their ratings high, they do this heinous crime. In a sense the ‘varnaasrama’ India doesn’t have any basic right to call others as ‘Racist’. It has to look deep into itself first before crying wolf. Where are we going ? Money and quick fame blinds people.. so very true..

In another words I really couldn’t understand the other guy’s mental status who is being arrested. What a pity! such a little child.. Can’t even talk.. just some blabber ‘ mama & papa’.. Our heart skips even in cartoon if a baby falls or in anything in baby form. This cruelty is just unbearable.. Nonetheless the guy’s wife too is an accomplice to this heinous crime if proved true. What a people? Where are they from ? From Hell???

I am full of appreciation on the Victorian Police Force who maintained their level headedness(to solve this case!) in these days of mud slinging on them!
